My typical day at work

My typical day at work is a combination of office work elements (including the preparation of reports on the results achieved by my Engagement) and frequent contacts with the employees reporting to me, who have their teams, as well as with particularly important business partners and clients.

My achievements

I have been working at Capgemini since 2012, precisely ever since the office in Opole was opened. My career developed as the Opole Centre grew. I became the first manager in Opole, and by climbing the consecutive rungs of the managerial ladder, I gained precious experience that I am now using as the person who represents Capgemini in Opole.

Places I’ve been to

Capgemini also means new places and the people we meet. When meeting clients, I have seen the majority of the large German cities, from Frankfurt to Munich. One of the meetings with a client took place in Barcelona. In 2014, I took part in Lean training that took place at the Capgemini office in Lille.

My typical day at work

My responsibilities range from creating system architecture, through business meetings with clients, to making offers. So it is difficult to speak of a typical day at work in my case. What counts for me is the dynamics of tasks, lack of monotony, and constant growth.

My achievements

I started at Capgemini as JAVA programmer. It was already in the first days of work that I was entrusted with responsible project tasks. A major challenge was also work in a dispersed environment for international clients. Looking back, I can speak of personal success in the form of developing my competences, but success also means for me the satisfaction of clients, finalised projects, and a close-knit team.

My typical day at work

I’d rather describe an atypical day because this is why I like this job so much. Sometimes, I start the day with a meeting at the Jagiellonian University. On other occasions, it is a visit to the theatre. I also organize various initiatives and take part in many workshops. Every now and then, my typical day ends with an atypical meeting as part of the CSR Club, e.g. with the Polish Medical Mission, Food Banks, or we just watch films together. I really have a cool job!

My achievements

Building and consistently implementing the corporate social responsibility strategy for Capgemini in Poland. We have a perfectly functioning Grant Program, regular blood donation campaigns, actions of 1% for employees’ families, a theatre group, well-developed bike parking facilities , a carpooling portal, and as the first company in the sector, we are building a model for recruitment and further training of disabled persons – “Win with Capgemini.”

My typical day at work

I’ve been sure about one thing for 7 years: there is no such thing as a typical day at work, and that’s fantastic. Every day brings something completely different – I work on other things, and meet people with whom we create new solutions together. What remains the same ,though, is definitely the atmosphere of inspiration, humour, and… the football table – an absolutely indispensable item.

My achievements

I think it’s not worth focussing on great achievements because it is an art to find success on a daily basis. Such an approach inspires you with optimism, gives you energy for action, and helps you appreciate better what you have.

My private life

I try to lead a very active lifestyle and not waste a single moment on boredom. My leisure is filled with books, sport, friends, and the never-ending redecoration of my flat.

My typical day at work

I usually start work with setting the priorities for the day. First, I focus on performing the most important tasks. I also have many meetings on a regular basis during the day. I usually finish work with an analysis of e-mail and I reply to current questions.

My achievements

I am proud that I have developed such a style of work that I can finalize any task.

My private life

I like to go swimming in my free time, which helps me regenerate after a day at work. My passion is mountain trekking. The mountains have taught me to cope with any situation. During a trip, you can’t be an individualist, but you have to cooperate with the group. Achieving that aim requires much effort, but it is also the source of immense satisfaction.

My typical day at work

I start every day with a mug of coffee with milk. It is an absolute must-have! Later, I turn on the computer, check e-mail, and plan what to do on a given day. There is no routine on the job. I face new challenges on a daily basis. Depending on the current status of our project, I have various tasks assigned.

My achievements

In May 2015, I joined the international educational programme called Microsoft Student Partners. It has given me great opportunities to grow and meet people who – similarly to me – like to set goals for themselves and achieve them, and above all, are not afraid of challenges.

My private life

My private life tends to be quite crazy at times. I like when a lot is happening. I study and get involved in a students’ club, which also consumes a lot of time sometimes, but is definitely worth the effort ;). I like to participate in industry events, conferences, and to be involved in their organization. I already have several conferences or hackathons noted down in my calendar, and I can’t miss them. I will always find time to meet friends. At the weekend, I like to rest a little, regenerate and save some energy for the next week.

My life at Capgemini

Work at Capgemini means new challenges every day that I’m able to meet thanks to experience acquired during 6 years of work climbing the ladder from the basic position – remote customer service, through managerial positions to the person in charge of the Opole Centre.
The key to the success of Capgemini are the people and family atmosphere at our centre. I appreciate the fact that I can collaborate with people who will help me in any situation.

My private life

I am a volunteer firefighter and devote a large part of my free time to that activity. This passion has taught me to control my emotions and keep calm in any situation.
“The most interesting thing is that I never know what challenges await me on a given day. In a situation of such uncertainty, it is crucial that I have a very well-built team to rely on.”

Places I’ve been to

I often visit Germany because I work for our clients across the Oder River. Therefore, I don’t travel on business too far as opposed to my colleagues working for clients located in the USA. But privately, I like to travel far to interesting parts of the world where I experience wild nature and different cultures, where I can take a break from my duties and charge my batteries.

My life at Capgemini

As I am a person between generations X and Y, work-life balance is important to me. Lots of interesting projects take place here and I participate in them.

Places I’ve been to

As part of the environmental audit of systems and solutions, I’ve been on the roofs of two Capgemini buildings. Unforgettable views!

My private life

I love cycling trips.

Places I’ve been to

Ryszard Kapuściński was absolutely right when he wrote that “Indeed, there exists something like a contagion of travel, and the disease is essentially incurable.” This disease, which accompanies me at every moment of spare time, has led me to such distant places as Malaysia, but also to closer ones, i.e. various places in Poland.

Places I’ve been to

In 2012 I often visited India as part of business travel. One of them was particularly memorable. It was a visit to Mumbai during the monsoon season. No tourists, darkness, and rain all the time… nevertheless, the trip was a good one. The place I can recommend the most is Bangalore – the third largest Indian city – it is a very inspiring place, and interestingly, evening temperatures remind our Polish summer…

Places I’ve been to

There are many places I have NOT been to yet, but it is all ahead of me. There are numerous wonderful places in the world I’d like to see. So far, I’ve managed to see well-known and less-known places in Poland from the sea to the mountains.
